Inspired By Fearless

Inspired By Red
Red was good before, but even better with Taylor’s Version. For whatever reason (I blame All Too Well), this album makes me think of falling leaves and autumn breezes. That clearly impacted our choices here.
Watch
- Gilmore Girls – Nothing screams fall in New England like Gilmore Girls. This show can be rewatched every few years. It’s heartwarming and funny and gives off all the Red vibes.
- Mystic Pizza – This movie is about three waitresses and their hopes, dreams, and plans for escaping their small town in Connecticut after the summer.
- Other great options – New Girl, Friends, Dead Poets Society, the After Series movies
Enjoy
- Caramel apples – These two flavors go together insanely well. You can go with the classic version of a full apple dipped in caramel or take the easy way like me and slice apples up and dunk them into caramel.
- Red Wine – Grab a cozy bottle of red wine, like a Malbec or a good blend. The album is called Red, it’s really the best choice.
- Cider – Another apple option is cider, either with or without alcohol.
- Tabletop S’mores – Even if the weather isn’t quite cool enough for a campfire yet, you can still enjoy s’mores with this fancy little contraption. You’ll use it over and over again.
Relax
- Buffalo Plaid PJs – Get cozy in these buffalo plaid pajamas, which are perfect for fall and winter.
- A good red lipstick – According to the internet, this might be the exact red lipstick that Taylor wears, so it’s worth a try.
- Cozy Season candle – I just ordered this autumn-scented candle. The scent notes say woods, warm spice, and citrus, and it said it would make me want to put on my coziest sweater.
- The best pullover – Speaking of cozy sweaters, this pullover is my favorite. It’s perfect for camping, hiking, sitting outside at breweries, or getting cozy and warm at home.
Inspired By 1989
This is the album that starts Taylor’s New York City era, so it’s a classic. The vibe feels like acting like a fancy adult while living on a ramen budget. Moving to New York City is a dream for many, but it’s always a little less glamorous once you’re in it. Either way, it’s still fun.
Watch
- Younger – When a woman in her early 40s is too old to start over in her career, she pretends to be younger and navigates the New York City publishing industry while covering her lie. It’s a great show to binge.
- How I Met Your Father – This new Hulu show was inspired by the original How I Met Your Mother. The ensemble casts cover living in New York City, meeting new friends, and falling in love. Plus, the guest stars are fantastic.
- Someone Great – This movie features the beauty of female friendship. A music journalist turns to her two best friends after going through a breakup. It’s incredible. Plus, the movie was inspired by the song, Clean.
- Other great options – Ugly Betty, Devil Wears Prada
Enjoy
- A giant slice of pizza – Nothing screams NYC like a slice of greasy pizza. You don’t have to keep it at just one, have as many as you want.
- Takeout – Order good Chinese, Thai, Korean, Indian, Japanese, or any other kind of good takeout. In NYC, you can have anything you want to be delivered at any time, so find something local and order it to be delivered.
- Cosmopolitan – Many girls that watched Sex and the City immediately switch to Cosmos when they first move to the city. It’s not like that anymore, but the idea brings back a little nostalgia.
Relax
- Polaroid camera – The album cover is famously a Polaroid, so bring that fun into your night in. This Instax camera is inexpensive, and you can take fun snaps of your memorable evenings. We’ve had ours for five years, and it still works great.
- NYC pajamas – If you love the Big Apple, go all in with the theme with this very Taylor-coded shirt and some NYC-themed sweatpants.
- Gray Malin puzzle – Spend the evening putting together this adorable puzzle that features cute dogs and the NYC skyline.
Inspired By Reputation
This album was the first time you really saw Taylor fight back against all the people who had wronged her. Part of that comes with confidence and self-awareness. It’s all about growing up and having more fun. And it was one of our favorite parts of the Eras tour. We all have days that fit into the Reputation era. They are a little darker than others but also cathartic.
Watch
- Dead to Me – This dark comedy is all about grief, loss, making amends, and how two women who are polar opposites can become close and help each other.
- Do Revenge – This high school dark comedy is about a popular girl who wants revenge after her intimate sex tape is released. She partners with another girl in school to help each other get revenge on the people who have wronged them. It’s a perfect pairing with Reputation.
- Other great options – You, Wednesday, Easy A
Enjoy
- Dark chocolate – Or any chocolate, really. You can’t go wrong.
- Old fashioned – This cocktail is a classic and is perfect for a dark, stormy evening. It’s a bourbon drink that includes a little simple syrup and bitters poured over ice and served with an orange slice and cherries.
- Snakebites – This British classic cocktail mixes beer with hard cider. England uses lagers; in the US, they typically use a heavier stout.
- Anything best served cold – Get it? Revenge is a dish best-served cold.
Relax
- Black robe – Buy yourself this robe so you can dramatically walk around the house and perform all your favorite Reputation songs.
- Charcoal mask – Slather on this charcoal mask and detox your pores and cleanse yourself from whatever you need to. It’s the best because you can see the mask working.
- Sorry – This board game is the original game of revenge, and you can take down your opponents after they’ve wronged you. This version is really cool and slides right into your bookshelf.
Inspired By Lover
Sometimes you just need some rainbows and sunshine, enter Lover. This album is very poppy. It’s colorful and upbeat while still maintaining her sass. It’s the best album to listen to and have a dance party in your living room.
Watch
- Sex Education – When your mom is a sex therapist, it has an impact on your high school years. At least, that’s what Otis is experiencing in his formative years. It’s heartfelt and funny while also covering some intense topics. The last season is being released soon.
- Clueless – This classic movie is upbeat and colorful and has one of the best soundtracks ever. Follow Cher as she becomes a better human and falls in love with Paul Rudd (because, duh).
- Other great options – Schitt’s Creek, Jawbreaker, Barbie, Miss Americana (about the woman herself)
Enjoy
- Cotton Candy – The entire cover looks like a cotton candy swirl, so it’s impossible to think of Lover without thinking of this sweet snack.
- Frose – A slushie made of Rose wine is the perfect Lover cocktail. It can be enjoyed on a sunny deck or on your couch in your pajamas while watching a movie.
- Frozen Margaritas – Same idea of a frozen fruity drink. You could also include Pina Coladas, Rum Runners, Palomas, and Miami Vices.
- Sushi – Make your sushi platter into a rainbow of different flavors. This is a great meal in the summertime when you don’t feel like cooking and want to snack on something cool.
Relax
- Rainbow PJs – I’ve had these Summersalt pajamas on my list for a while. Matching pajamas have become part of my aesthetic.
- Vitamin C Serum – This feels like sunshine in a bottle. It smells incredible and it’s in my daily rotation.
- The Comfy – If you want to match the Lover album, check out this Comfy. It’s like a snuggie but more updated.
- Glitter Ice Globes – These facial massagers will allow you to give yourself a spa treatment whenever you want at home. They come in multiple colors.
Inspired By Folklore
Folklore’s album cover is in a foggy forest, but the stories and songs take listeners to the New England coast in the summertime. Imagine a gray morning while enjoying a coffee and then splashing in the water in the afternoon when the sun burns off the clouds.
Watch
- The Summer I Turned Pretty – This show is only in its second season but is the perfect complement to Folklore. There’s a love triangle, coastal scenes, heartbreaks, and incredible bonds.
- Twilight – Other than the foggy forest scenes and love triangles, this movie series has an entire Reddit thread dedicated to making connections. If you need more info, check it out.
- Other great options – Revenge, The Kennedys, Jaws
Enjoy
- Summer berries – Summer is the best time for fresh berries. Hit the farmer’s market and stock up on strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and more. Eat them plain or include yogurt dip to make them a little sweeter.
- Cape Cod – This drink is named after the cranberries that grow in the Cape Cod area. Mix vodka, cranberry juice, a little soda water, and a lime wedge.
- Chowder and crackers – Seafood can be a lot of work to prepare, but ordering some clam chowder is the perfect way to pretend you’re living your coastal grandmother life. Add some oyster crackers because they are the best.
Relax
- Salt & Stone Candle – Light a candle that brings the seashore to your home. There are a million to choose from, but this one is a great place to start.
- Linen pajamas – Linen pajama sets are great for summertime. They’ll help keep you cool and can be worn to the beach if you don’t feel like changing.
- Coastal mugs – This set is perfect for sipping coffee (or whatever your drink of choice is, and they say, “Let the sea set you free.”
Inspired By Evermore
This is the sister album to Folklore, but it feels more historical. Taylor tells other people’s stories and transports us to different times and places. The color palette is very autumnal and cozy like you’re stepping between fancy parties with champagne towers and a cozy chair next to a fireplace in a historic home.
Watch
- The Crown – This is the perfect period drama. The series follows the Queen of England from her teenage years all the way through adulthood. The costumes, sets, historical events, and music will transport you to different years throughout the last century.
- The Great Gatsby – Baz Luhrmann recreated Gatsby’s Long Island party house in this movie, and it feels like you’re there. Enjoy the incredible soundtrack that goes along with one of the most classic American stories ever told.
- Other great options – Bridgerton, Knives Out, Little Women
Enjoy
- A good cheese platter – Get fancy with a cheese platter. Add fruit jams and good crackers, and enjoy snacking like you’re at a posh party, even when you’re comfy at home. You can even pick them up premade now if you don’t want to source all the goodies yourself.
- Champagne – How can you not have champagne on the list when there’s a song with the word in the title? Plus, it pairs nicely with some cheeses.
- Hot Toddy – Sticking with the flannel feeling, a hot toddy is a wonderful drink to warm you up on a cooler night.
Relax
- The fuzziest blanket – Wrap up under a beautiful fuzzy blanket while watching movies. This Eddie Bauer blanket is dreamy, and we have a few of these Target blankets.
- Flannel PJs – You might as well find some flannel pajamas. This set is from Amazon, and they aren’t expensive. I wouldn’t spend too much on these because they are hot, because I probably wouldn’t sleep in them.
- Library Puzzle – With this album telling stories, it makes sense to work on a puzzle that is covered with books. Escape in this puzzle for a while.
Inspired By Midnights
Hitting the age of 30 is a wonderful thing. You gain a sense of freedom and care less about other people’s thoughts. It feels like the actual transition to being an adult. Midnights is an album about those middle-of-the-night moments throughout life that stick with you. It’s darker and more adult but still has a little sparkle.
Watch
- Euphoria – This HBO show follows high school kids, but the content is very mature. They are dealing with drugs, sex, trauma, plus the overwhelming presence of social media.
- Moulin Rouge – Another Bax Luhrmann movie, this one tells the story of a club in Paris and the people who work there. Satine is a singer who is hiding a secret. A poet falls in love with her, but she’s been promised to a duke. As her wedding day draws near, tensions escalate. It’s musical, colorful, and a little dark.
- Other great options – Big Little Lies, Midnight in Paris
Enjoy
- Martini – A classic martini with olives is a great drink pairing for the Midnights theme. Choose between gin or vodka as the base and then mix with vermouth. Top it with some good olives.
- Girl Dinner – This “trend” is really just what most of us do when we don’t feel like cooking anything. Grab any veggies, dips, meats, cheeses, and snacks you have that don’t require any cooking.
- A good salad – Whip up Jennifer Aniston’s famous salad recipe or a good Cobb salad. A good salad should hit a few different food groups and actually fill you up.
- Vodka Soda with Lime – This classic is refreshing; you can choose how strong or weak you want to make it. Have sparkling water without alcohol, and add lime for fun.
Relax
- Silk pajamas – These midnight blue silk pajamas look wonderful. Silk is an extremely comfortable option to sleep in.
- Good face cream – This face cream has the word “corset” in the title, which feels like something i might need help with after long nights. Add this to my midnights night in.
- Eye masks – If I’m staying up until midnight ever, I use these masks in the morning to help with puffy eyes, plus it feels damn good. Throw them in the fridge for a few minutes, and it’s a game changer.
If You Love The Tortured Poets Department
We were all shocked when Taylor’s new album just magically doubled in size just a few hours after the initial release. The Tortured Poets Department is tragic and dramatic and will hopefully help her close the chapter on a more depressing and reserved time in her life. But we get it, sometimes you just need to feel your feelings. So here are a few options if you’re in the mood for a TTPD-themed evening.
Watch
- Casablanca – This black-and-white movie is a tearjerker with a love story, and it’s a classic that everyone should see at least once. Sacrifices are made, and feelings rekindled, all while a war rages.
- Grey’s Anatomy – It would be weird for us not to mention one of Taylor’s favorite shows. There are tragic breakups, tears in almost every episode, and stories that only the most talented writers could bring to the small screen.
- Other great options: Call Me By Your Name, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Outlander, Sharp Objects
Enjoy
- Espresso Martini – This drink mixes together two classic writer stereotypes. First, you’ve got the overcaffeinated writer in the corner of a coffee shop, and second, you’ve got the F. Scott Fitzgerald type enjoying a martini. Blend the two together, and an espresso martini is the perfect fit for this more grown-up album. Plus, you might need the boost to enjoy all 31 songs.
- Black-and-White Board – Build a black-and-white themed snack board with all your white cheeses and blackberries, black garlic spread, dark cherries, and even some black-and-white cookies.
Relax
- Silky white pajamas – This set would be perfect for a TTPD girl’s night. The silky white with black piping fits the theme and is incredibly comfortable.
- The perfect scented candle – Since we are all saying goodbye to London, this candle would be the perfect match for a TTPD-inspired evening.
- A new journal & pens – Grab a pack of blank journals or one with guided prompts and a nice set of pens.
