Podcasts Favorites: When You Just Want Some Girl Talk

best podcasts for girl talk

I’ve been sharing my favorite podcasts by topic to help anyone who is looking to tune into some new shows and find entertainment. I don’t love calling these girl talk podcasts, but it seems like the most understandable grouping because these feel like conversations I’d have with my closest girlfriends. You’ll laugh, find people to be outraged about the world with you, and leave with a list of things to try/watch/read. Aren’t those the best conversations?

There are two girl talk podcasts that I never miss an episode for and then another collection that I follow and tune into as often as possible. There are millions of podcasts in the world and sometimes it’s hard to catch every single episode.

And if you’re new to podcasts, I put together this guide on how to listen to podcasts and where to find them.

Two “Girl Talk” Podcasts Where I Never Miss an Episode

The Uncensored Moms Podcast

I’ve mentioned this podcast before, but I cannot leave it off a list of favorites. Back in the day, when blogging was a tool for connecting millennial women on the internet, I started following these two, and it just made sense that I would love their podcast. It’s funny to recommend a podcast with “mom” in the title when that’s not one of my titles, but it’s not about being a parent. They just talk about life things—marriage, health, pop culture, family, books, and kids. It’s the honesty and candidness that I love about this podcast, and I find myself laughing out loud while also very invested in bladder health. It’s a well-rounded pod. The ladies are on an end-of-the-year break, so you can catch up now. Listen here.

My So-Called Midlife

Reshma Saujani chats with women each week about a topic that relates to reaching middle age. Ilana Glazer joins to talk about pregnancy reality, Cheryl Strayed discusses her “crone” age, and so many more. The podcast hits on HRT, perimenopause symptoms, marriage, and all kinds of topics that are interesting and not discussed as much as they should be. Saujani is a great host with thoughtful questions and I have really enjoyed every episode, even the ones that don’t necessarily relate to me. Listen here.

Girl Talk Podcasts I Listen to When the Topic Looks Interesting

A Beautiful Mess

Elsie and Emma are sisters who I’ve been following for a long time. They have a fantastic blog that has covered all types of creative topics over the years. It’s home to a few of my favorite recipes. Now, they are a few years into their podcast, and I enjoy this medium even better. I like their book club episodes, comfort rewatches of movies, and some of their specific topics about home decor and creating. Listen here.

Girls Gotta Eat

I haven’t listened to this as much, but over the holiday break, I caught up on some that looked intriguing and it had me laughing out loud. They cover pop culture, dating, sex, and so much more. They have two episodes a week, so I probably won’t ever be totally up to date with their content, but I’ll definitely be tuning in more often. Listen here.

Sounds Like a Cult

You know the things in society that tons of people are obsessed with, but you don’t get the hype? This podcast covers those things. From Peloton to Dance Moms to Hallmark Christmas Movies, the hosts address a different topic in each episode that sounds like a cult. They finish by ranking the dangers of the specific topic. I don’t always agree, but it’s funny to listen to them debate things and there’s always some interesting facts unearthed. Listen here.

Bad on Paper

I will always tune into the book podcasts if I’ve read the book because I love hearing them deep dive into the plots and characters. Guest hosts come on and share their three favorite things, and it’s been so many of my favorite recent authors. The content is perfect for a dog walk. Listen here.

A Thing or Two

Claire and Erica publish a newsletter where I get a lot of excellent links and reading material, so when I realized they also had a podcast, I hit subscribe. I don’t catch every episode, but I also browse the topics and tune in as much as possible. The two have a good vibe, and it’s very easy and enjoyable. Listen here.

I’ve Had It

This is a brand new podcast for me, and I cannot remember who shared it with me. These two women are hilarious, and while I’m having a hard time keeping up with some of the inside jokes, it’s worth it to laugh with them when they give advice to listeners and talk about current events. I will continue to tune in for their southern accents and hysterical sense of humor. Listen here.

Forever35

I’ve been subscribed to this podcast for a while. There is one episode each week, plus a mini-episode. They cover a variety of stuff, and it’s a great one to listen to while I walk the pup. It’s nice to listen to conversations between women around my age. There is a great variety of guests, but also plenty of episodes where they yap about whatever is currently on the top of their minds. Listen here.
